Pokémon Coming to Blockchain
Pokémon is quietly stepping into the blockchain space — but not in the way many might expect. The latest update to Pokémon HOME introduces Digital Souvenirs — collectible medals that players can earn by visiting real-world locations, trade with others, or send as gifts. These souvenirs are part of a new feature rollout that appears to use blockchain technology in the background.
Here is what you need to know…
🧩 Digital Souvenirs enhance player identity within the Pokémon HOME ecosystem.
⚙️ Built in collaboration with Parasol Technologies, now owned by Mysten Labs (creators of the Sui blockchain).
🔐 Likely uses blockchain as backend infrastructure for tracking and verifying in-app transactions.
📱 No crypto wallets or off-platform NFT trading — it's a closed, app-native experience.
While this isn’t a full leap into web3, it shows how major gaming IPs are testing blockchain-lite models that prioritize user experience over decentralization.
